Civic leadership coaching: in brief

Civic leadership coaching meets you where you are at in your councillor journey.

It recognises that you are unique in your leadership. Your previous life and career experience all contribute to the unique skills and knowledge that your community has recognised in you.

We have three different levels of coaching support to match your needs - laser focus, lift-off and elevate.

You can also get to the bottom of your challenge with an intensive one to one coaching session that supports you to gain clarity and identify an action plan based on your needs.

Coaching options

Laser focus

For councillors who want to top up and hone in on a specific area of their leadership performance. This package is suited to councillors who feel they are managing the juggle and still desire that ‘bit extra’ to elevate their impact.

Lift-off

For councillors who want to boost their knowledge or skills with a trusted and impartial sounding board. This package is suited to councillors who feel the pressure mounting and want to take a proactive approach to enhance their competency and capability.

Elevate

For councillors who want to deepen their impact with a trusted sounding board. This package is suited to councillors who feel pulled in all directions or may be grappling with the responsibilities of the role, and are looking for an accountability partner over the longer term.

Mayor X had been appointed Mayor in her second term of office as a local government councillor. She acknowledged this position required her to amplify her leadership skills, particularly her knowledge of the local government governance framework so she could make better informed decisions and provide direction to her fellow councillors. Mayor X also had a desire to learn more about team-building and ways she could address fractures within the elected body that had developed. Mayor X had a VERY busy schedule and large workload.

The elevate coaching package allowed her the time to deeply integrate the learning she gained with her coach. Mayor X particularly enjoyed having access to her coach via the voice memo App so she could get real-time access to her coach to sound-board ideas on the go.
