Councillor A faced ongoing tensions with councillor colleagues and public criticism that left them feeling frustrated and uncertain about how to move forward. Council meetings were unproductive, and conflict felt like a constant battle. Through conflict coaching, Councillor A identified their personal triggers and conflict patterns, accepted the reality of some relationships, developed a plan to call out difficult behaviour in the Chamber and reviewed outcomes and adjusted approaches for lasting change.
With a new approach, Councillor A de-escalated tensions, rebuilt relationships, and led with more confidence. Council meetings felt more constructive, and Councillor A felt empowered to navigate disagreements without losing sight of their purpose.
